There is nothing more important than clean drinking water and good basic sanitation to keep the world and the people in it, healthy.
March 11 is World Plumbing Day - an international event honoring the important role plumbing plays throughout the globe.
Plumbers make the miracle of clean, convenient water possible which is something often taken for granted. For some, this fundamental need makes the difference between life and death. Billions of people in the world still do not have access to safe drinking water or a place to dispose of their feces. Sadly, each year, 3.1 million people die from water and sanitation diseases that could have been prevented with proper plumbing. To put it in perspective, half of the hospital beds in the developing world are filled from poor sanitation and unsafe water.
